Costs & Insurance

How much does home care cost in Los Angeles?

In-home care in Los Angeles typically ranges from $28-45 per hour depending on the level of care needed and your neighborhood. Live-in care averages $350-450 per day. This is generally 20-40% less than nursing home care at $9,000-$12,000 per month.

Do you accept Medicare?

Medicare covers limited home health services (skilled nursing, physical therapy) but does not cover custodial/personal care. We help families understand what Medicare does and doesn’t cover. Read our Medicare guide →

Do you accept Medicaid or IHSS?

We help families navigate California’s In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program and Medi-Cal benefits. Many families combine IHSS hours with our private care for comprehensive coverage. Read our Medicaid/IHSS guide →

Do you accept long-term care insurance?

Yes, we accept most long-term care insurance policies. Our billing team can verify your benefits and handle claims directly with your insurance provider, reducing paperwork for your family.

Are there VA benefits for home care?

Yes. The VA Aid and Attendance benefit provides up to $2,431 per month for qualifying veterans and surviving spouses to pay for in-home care. Read our VA benefits guide →

What is the minimum number of hours?

Our minimum is 4 hours per visit. We offer flexible scheduling — from a few hours per week to 24/7 live-in care. Many families start small and increase as needs change.

Our Caregivers

Are your caregivers background-checked?

Every caregiver undergoes comprehensive screening including: DOJ and FBI fingerprint background checks, drug screening, TB testing, reference verification from previous families, driving record check, and skills assessment. We hire less than 5% of applicants.

Are caregivers employees or independent contractors?

All our caregivers are W-2 employees — not 1099 contractors. This means they’re covered by our workers’ compensation insurance, liability insurance, and bonding. You’re never liable as the employer.

Can I choose my caregiver?

Yes. We carefully match caregivers based on your loved one’s needs, personality, schedule, and preferences. If the match isn’t right, we’ll find a new caregiver at no charge.

What happens if my caregiver is sick or unavailable?

We always have backup caregivers available. If your regular caregiver can’t make it, we’ll send a qualified replacement who’s been briefed on your care plan — often within hours. You’ll never be left without care.

What training do your caregivers have?

All caregivers complete our comprehensive training program covering personal care, safety protocols, infection control, dementia care, fall prevention, and emergency response. Specialized caregivers receive additional training in Alzheimer’s care, Parkinson’s, diabetes management, and post-surgical recovery.

Types of Care

What is the difference between home care and home health?

Home care provides non-medical assistance — personal care, companionship, meal prep, housekeeping. Home health provides skilled medical care — nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy. Many families need both. We provide home care services and coordinate with home health agencies when medical care is needed.

What is live-in care vs. 24-hour care?

Live-in care means one caregiver stays in your home for an extended shift (usually 24 hours) and sleeps during the night. 24-hour care means two or more caregivers rotate in shifts to provide continuous awake care around the clock. 24-hour care costs more but is necessary for clients who need nighttime assistance.

Do you provide dementia and Alzheimer’s care?

Yes. Our memory care specialists are trained in dementia-specific techniques including structured daily routines, cognitive stimulation, wandering prevention, sundowning management, and behavioral approaches. We provide both hourly and live-in memory care.

Do you help with hospital discharge?

Yes. Post-surgical and hospital-to-home care is one of our specialties. We coordinate directly with hospital discharge planners to ensure a seamless transition. Same-day placement is available for urgent discharges.

For Families

How do I know when my parent needs home care?

Common signs include: difficulty bathing or dressing, weight loss or poor nutrition, medication errors, unexplained bruises from falls, social isolation, unpaid bills, home in disarray, or unsafe driving. If you’ve noticed 3 or more of these signs, it’s time to explore care options. Read our warning signs guide →

Can I be involved in the care plan?

Absolutely. Family involvement is essential. We create a detailed care plan with your input, provide regular updates, and adjust the plan as needs change. Many families communicate daily with their caregiver through our care logs.

What if my parent resists having a caregiver?

This is very common. We recommend introducing care gradually — starting with companion visits (errands, meals, conversation) rather than personal care. Most seniors warm up to their caregiver within a few visits once they experience the companionship and support.

Do you provide care for couples?

Yes. We frequently provide care for couples in the same home. The care plan is customized for each person’s needs while keeping them together. This is often more cost-effective than separate care arrangements.

Do you provide care on holidays?

Yes. We provide care 365 days a year including all holidays. Holiday scheduling is arranged in advance. There may be a holiday rate surcharge depending on the date.
